Back to the Future Bike Tours: Ride 1 - Districts 1 & 2

Salt Lake City considers Expanding Housing Options (EHO), one of the most common talking points from opponents is that the housing types this proposal would allow — starter homes, duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes — are new, untested, or risky for our neighborhoods. They aren't. These homes already exist all across Salt Lake City, often tucked quietly into some of its most desirable, most walkable blocks for the better part of a century. That's why WALC is hosting a series of three community bike tours: to see this "missing middle" housing for ourselves, up close, on the ground. We're going to the past to bring good ideas back to the future in Salt Lake City.

This isn't just a history lesson — it's the roadmap for affordability. These same modest, small-scale homes are the key to giving teachers, nurses, young families, and longtime residents a real shot at staying in the neighborhoods they love, long term. Join us for one ride, two, or all three to see the evidence firsthand. Helmets are strongly encouraged.

This ride will feature a tour of homes in Salt Lake City Council Districts 1 & 2.

This is a generational opportunity. The decisions Salt Lake City makes about EHO in the coming months will shape whether our neighborhoods stay open to teachers, nurses, young families, and longtime residents for decades to come — or whether that door quietly closes. Come see the proof for yourself, then help make sure it doesn't. Learn more about the proposal and how you can take action at www.wasatchalc.org/eho.
