Build Better Collaborative | Rezoning
The Build Better Collaborative (BBC) brings together the people creating homes and shaping neighborhoods across the Wasatch Region. Many small-scale builders, architects, planners, and housing innovators work on their own. BBC gives them a place to connect, learn from each other, and solve problems together.
We gather around three goals:
- Build connections among the professionals behind neighborhood-scale housing, so relationships grow into partnerships and projects.
- Share what works, from backyard cottages and duplexes to cottage courts and adaptive reuse, and build the skills to deliver those projects locally.
- Clear the path by documenting the barriers small-scale builders face and turning them into practical recommendations for local leaders.
We meet in person on the third Thursday of each month at 4:00 PM at Indie Square in Murray. Each gathering takes on a different part of how homes get built, such as financing, design, approvals, or construction, led by a practitioner who works on it every day. You'll hear a short presentation, work through a real-world challenge in small groups, and close with time to network and share what your projects need.
Builders and developers, architects, planners, lenders, and anyone interested in building homes at a neighborhood scale are welcome, whether you're experienced or working on your first project.
Join us for our first gathering: Rezoning 101
Thursday, October 15 | 4:00 PM | Indie Square, Murray
Presentation hosted by Parry Harrison, CEO of The Nonprofit Homebuilder
We're starting with the first step many projects face: getting a property approved for something new. Parry will share how the rezoning process works, and then we'll dig in together in small groups. No experience needed.
