Wasatch Advocates for Livable Communities (WALC) is proud to participate in CANstruction 2026 at the JL Sorenson Rec Center in Herriman.
CANstruction brings organizations and community teams together to design and build large-scale structures using nonperishable food items—all of which will ultimately be donated to the Utah Food Bank. It’s a creative and community-centered event that connects design, collaboration, and giving back.
This year, WALC’s build reflects the idea that strong communities are built on a foundation—one that connects housing, stability, and access to basic needs like food. Through our build, we’re highlighting how housing and food security are deeply connected and how strong communities rely on systems that help people remain stable, connected, and supported.
We also want to give a special thank you to Lillian Hall, an intern at Di’velept Design and the designer behind our build. Her creativity, talent, and expertise helped bring this project to life, and we truly could not have done it without her.
We would love your support! Voting is open now through July 31st.
You can vote for WALC’s build here:

If you visit the event in person, we also encourage supporters to bring additional nonperishable food donations to help support the Utah Food Bank and the broader community impact of CANstruction.
Housing advocacy takes many forms. Sometimes it’s policy and planning work, and sometimes it’s showing up in creative and hands-on ways to support the systems that help communities thrive.
Thank you for supporting WALC, CANstruction, and the important work being done to strengthen communities across Utah—one can at a time.
