Expanding Housing Options Heads to the Salt Lake City Council

City Council Chambers, City & County Building, 451 S. State Street, Salt Lake City
The Salt Lake City Council is holding its first public hearing on Expanding Housing Options, and we’d love to see WALC neighbors there.
Expanding Housing Options, or EHO, updates the city’s land use rules so starter homes, duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes can be built in more Salt Lake City neighborhoods. These smaller homes fit in next to the houses already on the block. They give first-time buyers, growing families, and longtime neighbors who want to downsize a better chance at finding a home that fits.
The proposal now includes owner occupancy requirements for some types of homes. We’d like to see those requirements eased, and we still believe EHO is a good step forward for Salt Lake City.
You can sign up to give a short public comment, or come sit with us to show your support. You don’t need a policy background. Just tell the council why you care about your neighborhood and the people who want to call it home.
Can’t make it on the 10th? Join us for the second hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 PM.
